Fun Things to Do When the Temp Drops

Want to switch it up?

Well now it’s Winter in the Midwest? What are we supposed to do? Well grab the kids or your best friends and go stay somewhere new to get rid of that cabin fever and shake things up! Our homes were made to create long-lasting memories and an escape from the routine of every day life. Whether you’re looking for an active outdoor weekend or just a quite few days to escape the cold, come shake off the chill with us!

Come on in and cozy up!

Get out of the winter wonderland and come inside! Sometimes it can be overrated to be frozen to the bone so thankfully our living rooms are designed for maximum coziness and some good ol’ quality time. Our family loves warming up by the fire and arguing over a movie together and our friends like to have a group sing along. We LOVE to partake in a rowdy game of charades where people’s true talents (or lack thereof) can shine through. It can even be nice to sit next to your favorite person and read that book that you’ve been putting off because you just haven’t had the time. The happiest memories always seem to surround living rooms and the time spent there with your favorite people.

Can I just sit here for a second??

Sometimes the Minnesota Goodbye is even brought to the dinner table! After catering in a meal from a local restaurant because no one is in the mood to cook or if someone has been waiting for a top-notch kitchen for their time to let their culinary genius shine, it can be easy to stay a while at the table. Our houses feature large family tables where there can be events from a competitive card game, to trying to beat everyone in dominoes or even just sitting and taking in a moment after eating before you do the dishes. These tables are another place for everyone to spend QT and just get to relax without everyone rushing to the next activity.

Building a snowman on Lake Louise, in year-round vacation home rentals

Alright, fine! I’ll go outside.

However, this is the Midwest after all and with that comes the love of outdoor activity regardless of the temperature outside. Our family has had some pretty historical snowmen building competitions (I won, I don’t care what my brother told you) as well as snowshoeing on the lake and even good old fashioned snowball fights! There is also the option of going to Andes Tower Hills and snow tubing down a giant hill where you could get a face full of snow and not even mind! Of course, there is always the option of going ice fishing and Lake Louise as well as Lake Latoka are perfect for just that. No matter what, after a long day spent outside making memories and getting tired out, you’ll be able to shake off the snowflakes and warm up in luxury in one of our homes with hot chocolate or a hot toddy.
